The idea of DNA music has been brought to our attention before. Stanza’s excellent Genomixer site explores this paradigm with the Mutator, a nucleic sound system, and a set of open source DNA sound generators.
DNA synthesis is one thing, but what about neuron synthesis? Check out the Resonator Neuronium, a strange synth using six ‘interconnected analogue neurons’ to generate music. Retrothing has got it spot on – ‘Imagine a robot ant playing the best of Tangerine Dream!’
If you don’t have the money to get into ‘resonant neuron synthesis’, Repeatwhiletrue informs us that two classic virtual analogue synths (that I’ve had a lot of fun with in then past) are now available for free!
